Introduction

Not a lot of people are lucky enough to convert their hobby in a career. In 1994 I came in touch with quilts and patchwork.

I started carefully with a “mini”, followed by the well known Log
Cabin Christmas wreath. I bought the fabric in the January sale, which gave me a whole year to finish it. But at the end of March I already finished the little quilt. From that day on I knew that this was going to be a life long addiction. The thrill to let those wonderful fabrics pass through your hands and to make something beautiful out of it.
Only Quilters understand!

The 1998 Expo in Innsbrück, made an overwhelming impression on me. I immensely enjoyed the quilts from the past and the present. I became aware that the world of the quilt is a very special world. I am privileged to be part of it.

The process of making a quilt is not only sewing fabric pieces together. What makes it so special is everything that surrounds it.
The lessons, the gatherings, the show and tells, the exhibitions, the regional days of the quiltersgilde are always a great way to meet new people. You meet people from all over the world, and it is an opportunity to make new friends and share ideas or help each other. The influence of the internet made our world even bigger. Having a daughter in law who is as fond of fabrics as you are is great as well!
In short the whole thing!

When I got the opportunity to open a P&Q store, my girls and I took the chance with both hands. Such a location in a historic town! That only happens ones in your life.

There was an awful lot to do but the rest of the family fully supported our decision. We would like to thank everybody around us for their help and support.

I started of as a quilter and consumer and now I will be the entrepreneur. Although it is a strange feeling to be on the other side of the counter, it is great to assemble a fabric collection. No doubt we will make mistakes but we will learn along the way. We have started with a broad collection on our shelves. We hope you will find your way to the hart of Brielle.

A visit to ‘t Quiltgebeuren
